Mine is a manual, which helps, but the difference shouldn't be that much. Currently my gauge says 30.2MPG. Time to get it tuned?

I took her in to the Ford dealership today,
they wanted to charge me 100 bucks JUST to look at it and tell me what's wrong.

Any way to get around this??

Not really. They will get you with the diagnosis fee. This is something they will just poke and prod at.

There are too many variables to internet diagnosis. I stopped wondering a long time ago why I was getting 18 MPG while others were getting 20+. After data logging for about a year (and continuing), this is just normal for my vehicle and my driving habits. It stays consistent.

I still don't think your mileage is too far off the norm, considering how and where you say you drive. Forget the $100 to the dealer and put that into the tank, then start being mindful of how you drive IF an extra 1-3 MPG is that important to you.

That may be the general diagnostic rate, but if you are due for an oil change, you might want to ask about The Works Fuel Saver Package. Here is the link to print out a coupon for it: Service Coupons. It includes the following services, but anything extra would be your responsibility.

• Oil Change
• Tire Rotation
• Brake Inspection
• Multi-Point Inspection
• Fluid Top-Off
• Battery Test
• Filter Check
• Belts and Hoses Check

I've done some mods and stuff but with the 10% ethanol around here I get about 13mpg.
