Sounds like a repeat of the T-45 fiasco, which Ford never acknowledged or addressed (as far as I recall).

It's understandable that some suppliers might provide shoddy parts outside of Ford's control. The only acceptable move for Ford is to aggressively and promptly solve the problem. We'll see.

That is correct. Ford does not officially publish this spec nor does Getrag. The only reason why this spec is known is because the Ford engine designers had to design the Coyote's torque to that spec. They revealed this in an interview.

If you look at the Coyote's torque curve, you will see that it only hits 390 ft-lbf crank very very briefly.
And notice that the Roadrunner Boss had it's torque cut down to 380.

The Coyote and Roadrunner are capable of so much more, I bet they can reliably pump out 425/425 BHP/ft-lbf crank (same as the Camaro 6.2L Ss engine). But the MT82 is one of the limiting factors, and not necessarily CAFE.

If that's true then Ford had to have known all along that this was going to end up being a problem... wonder what the heck they were thinking???

edit: I just read on another site that the MT-82 is the same transmission as the 6MTI500 that is listed on their website and rated at 369 lb/ft torque.

well with 1500 miles on my 2012... so far so good.. but if there is a problem, I want it fixed before I experience any issues.

If this were true there would be a higher rate of failure amongst people that are adding power, it doesn't appear to be that way.

It is great they are investigating it, but people need to calm down. I am betting there is less than a 5% failure rate (likely it is probably around 1%). Unfortunately, if you do an internet survey it is going to appear a lot larger. Most people find forums to post on when they have problem, otherwise they would never be here.

Apr 10 build 11 v6 here, almost 20k miles and not a hint of an issue.
I sure hope you are right. My wifes 2012 V6 Premium vert is on the assembly line right now and I hope her car does not have this problem.

Well the NHTSA admits that there are 32 complaints, (Thirty Two) so you be the judge.

"Although none of the 32 complaints received by the NHTSA included any accidents or injuries - there is an obvious increased danger to the driver and others on the road, so the feds are looking into these problems".
