Because if it was it would more closely match the center of the cap and your body paint, maybe as someone said the texture is throwing it off. (to my eyes)
But to be fair I am very picky with colors, after mixing paint, and color matching paint for about 5 years.
And it does look really nice.

Yours is indeed darker but to me still not true black.

This looks clean. What kind of paint did you use...rattle can?? The black looks real bold and looks great.
