Side note, I've had several people tell me to just get the GT rear end, unfortunately there's no way I can afford that, especially after buying 700dollar snow tires.
So let's hear advice other than that. ^-^

Positraction (T-lok) would definitely help to increase traction in snow and mud. It will transfer power to the wheel that has the better traction instead of spinning both wheels in the snow. But of course if both wheels lost traction, no gear would be able to help. Sorry, I am not familiar with the installation of the gear.
