Default TPMS - Stem mount vs band mount

I was going to grab a set of new TPMS sensors to go on a replacement set of wheels and now see that americanmuscle has the stem-mount type for 07-09 in a kit (w/programmer).

My question is not the compatibility (am states they are and they have a diff pn from the 10-11 ones), but what are the thoughts on the new stem-mount type?
Were the band type more prone to problems and is that why ford switched?

I'm thinking to grab the stem type as I would think they are less of a pia - but what am I missing? Is one type more susceptable to damage during tire install?

Like the rest of us, I think these things s_ck, but the cars got the system, so I'm going to keep it enabled when I install the new wheels soon.

When I had discount tire put my wheels and tires on years ago, they tried the bands and they kept breaking. Lucky they paid for the new TPMS sensors from ford. After the third one broke they went to the stem mount and I never had a problem again.

Stem mount FTW.. easier to take off/mount the tire, and less likely to accidentally pull up on the band while breaking the bead with the metal arm

I just don't like the band type TPMS for no other reason than them just being a PITA...

I absolutely hate replacing tires at work(local ford dealer tech). Even though i work for the KIA franchise i do get the occasional used ford to work on or do tires on and I always brrak the bands when breaking the bead of the old tire. The new stem sensors are great, I haven't broken one yet and the rubber valve stem is removable from the sensor so incase you need new tires or your valve stem leaks for any chance you can just change the stem and not have to buy a new sensor.

the 10 up cars have different electronics and the stem mounts wont work for the 09 down cars if you buy the ford OEM ones. i recall this conversation coming up years back and someone tried and they wouldn't work.
