best tire in size 275/40/20???

The huge diameter is probably intentional just to help hold the amount of wheelspin down a little.
I doubt that NT555's (300 treadwear) will be grippy enough to eliminate "unintended" wheelspin completely. It's why DOT-legal competition tires have treadwear ratings below 200.
Something in 295/45-18 would have a little more sidewall to absorb cases where he's adding too much throttle too quickly (aka "driver error", and I think I'm old enough to get away with saying it that way). The only "cure" that I can think of is to learn to feel when grip is about to be lost and back out of the throttle. Smooth throttle control always. That does not have to mean "slow".
Keep in mind that the extra inch of sidewall height in a 295/45-18 vs 275/40-20 is only another one of those "percentage plays", that only buys a limited amount of help.

What about going with a 35 series tire? That size is more readily available by more manufacturers, not to mention cheaper. Your overall diameter will change by about an inch, not sure how significant it is when it comes to the speedometer.
