Default Differences between '05 and '09 gas mileage..

So I've noticed the 07+ stangs get way better gas mileage than 05-06.
The '09 is even advertised at like 20+ city...

I get 15/16 city.

So my question is this,
what's the difference from the 05-06 to the 08-09 that makes such a significant difference in gas mileage?

The engines are basically the same, right?

I always thought it was the same engine in the '05 thru '09. Don't know why they would be getting different mpg's. I was getting 20-21 mpg until I installed the FRPP Hot Rod Cams. I now get about 18 mpg.

Well, you also have engine mods, like a tune. And it depends on your foot and how you drive.

But in any case, there should be no difference between the 05 and 09 gas mileage. Nothing changed. Same engine. Same driveline.

I got the same mileage before the tune as well,

I believe I remember hearing others say they got better mileage (08-09)

I get 15city, 18/19 highway.

Any 08-09 v6ers?

You got 15mpg city stock? Somethings wrong with that. I thought I got bad mileage, around 16mpg but that's with the race tune, stall, 373 etc

I get better MPG's with my 06 GT manual stock tune than I did with my 07 v6 auto tuned.

It all boils down to how you drive. In my GT I don't have to use near the throttle to get the acceleration I want.

In any case, when I tuned the 07 v6 I got 3 better MPG's in the city and 5 on the highway.

What kinda mpg did you get with your v6?

I've always heard GT's get better mileage than the v6's (which is weird...)
