Intake/tune question

Intake/tune question
I have a Bama tune for my 2010 GT but it is for a Roush intake, which i took off in place of a new K&N intake that will be coming out soon (btw it looks really good, very impressed and it performed better on their dyno). But my question is can i use the tune that Bama wrote for my Roush intake even though I'm using the K&N intake? The reason i ask is because i know Bama doesn't write tunes until they have the product, and I'm not sure when K&N will be releasing it for sale. I don't think it will be a problem but i want to make sure and get some opinions first.

There is not a big difference in any of the intakes. I think you'll be fine. If there was an intake that had a proven advantage, it would be the the one that the majority would own and recommend. I think you'll be fine.

While there may not be much of a difference you may want to contact Bama for a tune anyway. While not likely, there may be enough of a difference that you may want the custom tune. If you have the free tunes for life why not take advantage of it.

Ok thanks for your inputs you guys. Im just not big on messing with the computer on my car as my SCT tuner lost my stock file some how last time. I will contact BAMA again, but last time they said they have to have the product in order to do proper tuning for it.

Nope, not true. There's a +/- 200 CFM flow difference between various brands. ~865 CFM (FRPP Bullitt syle) all the way up to 1020 CFM (C&L Racer). Everythign else fell in the middle somewhere.
American Muscle posted a thread on here somewhere (probably find it in their forum) regarding this. They did a comparison between various intakes on an otherwise stock car. Some also had different flow characteristics which would impact your A/F ratio table.
Personally I wouldn't risk engine damage because I was too lazy to contact AM and have them send me an updated tune.

OP, I would definitely call our Tuning Specialists to confirm that you will not need an adjustment for your new K&N intake.
It's always better to be safe than sorry!
Good luck!
Please let me know if you have any questions in the future!
