Tru Fiber Hoods any good?
#21
It's been posted before by yours truly and some others...
When it comes to our cars and we're talking about carbon fiber, we're talking about carbon fiber look only.
It's all made of fiberglass, only the cloth material changes in order to get the desired look.
A true carbon fiber hood would cost in the neighborhood of $2K or better and you'd almost be able to pick it up with one hand.
You would have to change to a much, much, lighter spring for the hood latch in order to avoid slamming the hood shut with rage, lol.
So either you get conventional fiber or carbon look, those hoods will be heavier than the OEM, unless you go with a cheaper version that doesn't have much of a brace underneath (race oriented versions only).
