Question tinting rear window on 06

I am interested in getting my rear window tinted on my 06 gt. i am wondering from some of you who have had it done; can i use the rear defrosters while having the tint on? with the heat from the defrosters does it some how melt/shrink the tint? just wondering before i spend $200. thanks.

Yes you can still use them. I have 20% on my car and 50% on the windshield. There are some pics in this thread.

I have 20% on my back and sides. No issues with the rear defrost. Backing up at night can be difficult with the 20% if you don't have any lighting around you. I will say that I had 35% on my last mustang and I love the 20% much better.

20% is all good until you get pulled over because of your local tinting laws...
35% is legal in 99% of the US.

The defroster wires get no hotter than the
interior of your stang sitting in direct sunlight
on a hot day...
So if tint was effected (shrink) be heat, the
first hot sunny day with the windows up would
be shrinking everyones tint...

I just know my 240 had bubbled rear glass.
But all around it was gettin close to purple and I'm sure they used the defrosters to early while it cured(previous owners)

I've got 5% in the rear and 20% on the sides...never any problem with bubbling or anything and I use my rear defroster everyday during the winter months. I also shopped around and found a company that offered tinting with a lifetime replacement deal for $200 so you might want to shop around a little more if that's not the case for you right now.

After(with much more lol):

MA is 35%, and that's what I would do. My brothers friend got pulled over and was cited for illegal tint on 4 windows, it cost him right around $750 in tickets. My friend has dark tint on his windows and you can't see anything at night, but his windows also metered at 2.5%

In Ohio it's not based on percentage is a judgment call now. They made it so that the law translates to something like, "the policeman has to be able to ID the driver."

Well I guess that could go either way then. Don't be a dick or else you get a tint ticket too, right? lol
