Someone correct me if I'm wrong but it acts like a clutch on manual trans cars. I think the stock stall is around 1900, so the car won't start moving until then. With a higher stall speed, the converter won't lock until the rpms reach that speed, so you can get a better launch in the power range

There's a lot of factors that play into it, like matching the stall with the cam/gear. That is my understanding

EDIT: damn you guys are good lol

Most forums you don't get a reaponce. Here you actually race to respond first. What do you need to do to change it? Would it be smart to install a cam or anything else while that's being done.

Let me rephrase.

If I'm having a torque converter instaled what's required to change it? Will they have anything taken apart where I can save money by changing other stuff at the same time.

Unfortunately now days shops charge a price for each and every install no matter what. However some will knock the price down a bit especially if ur a repeat customer. I had a dual Afco heat exchanger installed when I did the TQ install

I'll pick it up from here...lol.
What is required for the convertor, right?
Most stall convertors require a final gear of 3.55 or higher, which will result in a new tune to reset the shift points.
Its a good idea to combine the two at the same time...gear/tc. I doubt it will save you any money, but it sure will change your holeshot

Not yet, but its my plan to head over to brenspeed next spring and do the combo, gear/tc. How is the t/c for everyday driving outceltj? Does it improve anything other than the ability to stall?
