Default Stuck On Defrost

I have an 06 4.0. The hvac system is stuck on defrost. This is extremely frustrating as I have an entire cascade of problems with this car coming down on me. When I select anything other than defrost I hear clicks and pops from the top center of the console where all the vents meet. I know the S197 does NOT have vacuum lines, but I am at a complete loss as to where to even begin to determine what part #, cost, etc.

2 things...

First, I love your sig gif... make sure Santa brings that supercharger to my house...

Second, have you ever had the water leak problem? I know that the SJB when affected can cause havoc on the radio and cause other electrical problems... I wonder if your HVAC being stuck on defrost is a symptom of this? If you have never had a problem with water in the passenger front footwell, then there might be some sort of obstruction causing the actuators to not deflect the air to the front vents... May have to take part of your dash apart to determine for sure though.

Good luck,
Don

Thanks lol, still waiting for my 4.10s from Santa.

Never had the water leak problem! The sound when the actuators actually try to actuate is a click and pop, almost like something is mechanically "off track." I took half the dash apart and found the hvac core, put my hand on it as I tried to switch modes and felt vibrations from the clicking and popping. Trying to determine part #s.

Damn, forgot I was trying to keep my 911 post count. I can no longer be an emergency. Sit' and stuff.

Anyhow, few more service manuals in the diagnostics section for tracking that down, the one I gave is geared more for the A/C(second link).
