Default s197 headlight switch illumination bulb

Has anybody come up with a decent replacement bulb for the headlight switch illumination bulb that almost always burns out. I thinking about soldering one of my left over bulbs from when I did my own interior lighting. I used a clear one inside my console so I have 3 left over. 2005-09 Mustangs.

You're gonna have to do a walkthrough if you do this... I am interested as I thought I read the damn bulb is expensive and almost cheaperto replace the who switch assembly with a used part.

Easy solution. Buy a new headlight switch on ebay for $20. Then replace bulb. Thats what I did.

I got some replacement bulbs from a web site, bulbster.com. That was a couple of years ago and it's still working just fine.
