WTF, ANOTHER GREAT IDEA

I completely agree with this. Normally I really dislike most california policies, but this one is entirely true. Less than 5,000 miles on regular oil is a waste, less than 7500 on a blend is a waste, and less than 10,000 on well refined synthetics is a waste.
Consumers can save, and we can reduce our dependence on oil. Win win.

owners manual on my 10 stang and on the 10 f150 i had both stated 5000 miles if driven hard/towing and 7500 miles otherwise.
there is nothing wrong with this ad campaign.
not only that but its backed up through research and advancements in synthetic oils.

I'll change my oil at 1000 miles if I want and I'll blow the head off of anyone who tries to tell me I can't have the freedom to maintain my car how I like. It's MY car, and the government can stay out of MY engine, that I paid for, thank you very much.

I took my dad's 09 Sable in to an oil change shop that was pushing castrol synthetic blend. The technician recommended to change it about 4500 miles later..just checked the OP link and they say 7500 miles...go figure lol

they sell filters at walmart good for 15k changes, my 10 was 7500. i change the oil in the boss every 3-4k because i track the crap out of it. plus these cars have surprising amount of blowby and the oil doesn't last that long. a couple track days and you can be a quart or more low if you don't pay attention, which reminds me. all the 5.0 cars have surprising blow by, be sure you guys are checking oil weekly. you might think on a new car you don't need to and you would be surprised at finding you are significantly low.

Call me crazy but I change my oil every 2500. While I know 5k would be fine, I just feel like I'm doing the right thing. THe guy i bought the car from changed it every 7500, and I feel a world of difference now.

I think that the time interval is also important. I have my oil changed about every 1500 miles, which is every six months. I want the acid, condensation, and any other nasty stuff drained. For me, it's not the oil or filter that could be problematic; it's the possible accumulation of crud.
