Default Coffeeman gets SERIOUS - Procharger D1/F1 Air2Water Aluminator

Not sure the best place to put this, feel free to move it if there is a better place.

Joe and I have been wearing his car out all summer getting some great results. With his D1 @ 16psi on E85 he went a best of 9.87@137 with a best trap speed of 139. Here is the video:

Joe Coffeeman 2011 Mustang GT 5.0 Procharged 9.87@137 - YouTube

He decided to switch over to an Aluminator so we can push it a bit further. We will also be using Joe's car as a test for our air to water that you may have seen on our Twin Turbo project. Here is a picture of that on the turbo car:

Here is Joe's car in street trim. He added the Cobra Jet louvers and the RTRs. He also added the HO Fibertrends Cowl hood not too long ago. It really looks mean, I love it.

Here is how it currently looks under the hood:

First we will run the car with the same setup as before now that it has the Aluminator in it as a baseline. We will then put on our air to water setup and run it at the track both with no ice and with ice to see the gains with the intercooler only, no other changes.

I am also working on an air intake system for the procharged cars. I do like how they run but hate where they pull the air from. The main reason Joe bought the HO Fibertrends cowl hood was because I wanted to work on a cowl fed intake for the prochager. I took some time today to get a basic shape outlined in foam. I'll probably make the first one out of metal but would like to make one out of carbon. With the hood closed, the procharger will pull all its air from the cowl only. This is a high pressure area and is a perfect place to pull air from.

We hope to have these modifications done before our local January 29th track rental which should have great track prep. I think I can take the D1 into the mid to low 9 second range. Joe already has an F1 that arrived last week, but we want to get the testing of the air to water on the D1 first before we switch. The F1 with this intercooler should be pretty sick. Remember this is a full weight 100% street car. Race weight in the 3,800 lb. range.

I'll keep the thread updated as we make progress.

Here are two 9.82 passes. For those that follow the car, in the second pass you can see I got the 1-2 smoothed out. Next up will be our air to water setup with no other changes and back to the track.

Got the air to water intercooler on. I'll post some pics of the install of that later. But here is the dyno video from today. 829 rwhp.

Thanks. Just got back to the track. Unfortunately the converter wasn't keeping up. But that is no surprise. This is the same converter that worked great at 600 rwhp. Had over 20% slip. Still got a new best of 9.76@140 in worse weather and .05 off the 60 ft. So overall we are really please. Plus we finally got to weigh it. Today race weight was 3876!!!! He's putting some race seats in it and that will be about all the weight reduction we do.

Up next for the car:
Get the converter redone
F1A
lighter seats
more suspension work

Should go very low 9s or high 8s if the tranny will take it.
