2012 GT V8 5.0 Gas tank
I'm sure this has been discussed before, but I can't find it on the forum. Not only am i getting awful gas mileage (aggressive city driving), but when I go to fill up my tank the pump consistently stops me at around or under 13 gallons...I was under the impression that the 2012 GTs have 16 gallon tanks...After I fill up it consistently says I have between 200-210 miles til E when a majority of the other people on these forums seem to get between 240 and 270...Am I missing something? Any help would be appreciated.
PS the car has about 4500 miles on it, not that it makes much difference.

Last tank in my 2011 5.0 i got 15.1 mpg
was alot of wide open throttle though
average MPG was reading 18.7 when i got it with 15200 miles on it, they said the car was owned by a 77 yr old female. Its now down to 17.9 and dropping lol.

I think when the low fuel light comes on, there is still about two gallons of fuel in the tank...I'm not 100% positive on that but if that is the case and if the capacity is about 15 then that would explain the pump stopping at around 13, assuming the 'low fuel' message/light just lit up.

16 gallon tank. Light comes on, 50 miles to E (using averge over the life of the vehicle MPGs). 0 miles to E, about one gallon left in the tank.
I've had mine at "0 miles to E" a few times, and it's never run out of fuel completely. I've done maybe 10 miles while it's stating 0 to E.
MPGs WILL go up over time. I'm at 7200-7300 as of today and I'm getting about 19 mpgs for the last week. (I accidently reset it.) City MPGs SUCK. Period. On the Hwy, I have seen about 25-30 depending on speed and hill density. Once the "new" rubs off you'll start to baby it a little more as I do. Your best MPGs are going to be shifting NOT 1-2-3-4-5-6. I usually do 1-3-5-6 or 1-3-6. I have been know to go 1-4-6 as well. Mine gets about 20 mpgs in 6th at 30-40mph. When I FILL it, gauge usually reads "25X miles to E".

6 miles to E
Interesting that it supposedly has a 16 gallon tank...either its a straight up lie, my gauge is off or theres a malfunction...today I went to the station when it said "6 miles to E" and the pump let me fill up 12.8 gallons...it then said 204 miles til E...lets assume what Ditty says is true...you get an additional 10 miles with "0 to E" (a conservative gallon)...that still doesn't really add up to 16...its barely 15...how many miles til E does it say for you guys after you fill up?

Just reset your miles on trip A right after you fill up, then next time you fill up record the miles trip A reads and divide that by the gallons you put in to fill up. This is most accurate if you use the exact same pump, which i did.
This method is alot more reliable, and you shouldnt expect to get more than 15-16 with alot of WOT runs/ not alot of steady cruising
My 03 got 15 driving the same way also, my 1999 v6 maxima only got like 17 mpg with me driving lol

I'll try what Andy says in terms of resetting trip A, but I guess what I don't understand is how it could possibly say 204 to E on a fully filled up tank...just doesnt make any sense mathematically to me...a 50-60 mile difference from everyone else?

Have you changed out the oil yet? I know break in oil can tend to be a little less than perfect and probably doesn't help out MPG readings.
I am surprised to hear you see your tank reading down at 200ish though, I get horrendous mileage around the city though. I'd first of all monitor how many miles you're getting per fill up by hand though, sometimes the calculators in the car are just totally off.
When I do mostly highway driving, I tend to see around 22-23mpg average, sometimes lower. But when I'm driving city, definitely something like 14-15. And as someone else here said, the realized capacity of the tank to the computer is 15 gallons, so 15 gallons * 14 mpg = 210 miles per tank. Which is close to what you're talking about.

In city, pure stop and go and speed limits of 45 mph or less, even with a fully broken in engine, you will see 13-15 mpg. You might see 17 mpg if you ease up on the gas pedal. stop lights, stop signs, and low speed limits destroy your mpg.
The only time you will see the advertised 26mpg is If you hit the freeways. You have to be driving at speeds of above 60 mph to even get 20-22 mpg.
