what a great informative thread. thanks for posting up all that, it will be handy for folks wanting OEM hids.

that being said - I will be going the retrofit route when the time comes.

Definitely worth it. If i paid for retrofit service and it wasnt perfect, I'd be pissed. I've done many retrofits myself on multiple vehicles. Once you get the hang of it and know what you are doing, it isn't hard. And results are better than OEM which is nice. As soon as I get my mustang i will b
e retrofitting it with LS460s or FXR3s with CBIs. Can't wait!!

You got both sides for $800? I thought it was $800 a side... May look into this in the future.

Looks great!!

I got mine retrofitted at sickhids.com for $560.00 + $20.00 shipping costs. Here are some pics.

This pic was taken at a slight angle to the wall.

I have looked at both OEM HIDs for the Ford mustang and retrofits, and retrofits are the way to go. Since 2011, the adhesive used to seal the front cover to the headlight was changed to a high temp adhesive, so it is way harder than it used to be (so my retrofitter told me). You can spend way less than I did if all you want is projectors. I added switchbacks, painting $ CCFLs.

Yes that was for both lights and both pigtails. I think the OEM lights look better than the after market lights and when and if you need a part you don't have to worry about who has it and how long to get it.

Yea I do like the look of the OEM better than any aftermarket or retrofit. Theyre just not my cup of tea. I was definitely under the impression that each light was like 1000 bucks for each side. But 800 total.. definitely more doable in the future maybe.

Gil emailed me this just recently ", I have some more to add. I had to add a pair of relays and a pair of diodes. I have enclosed the diagrams. I haven’t taken pictures at night yet but they are a 100 times better than regular lights. I also enclosed a write up for older Mustangs.
Gil"
Heres the diagrams he sent

Ill link him back to
