I've been looking for a hood for my 2008 mustang and liked the Trufiber GTS-3 Ram Air Hood but was wondering if the vents would cause any issues when it rains or during carwash.....any ideas ?????

I have a Cervinis Type IV, no issues yet. Although car washes can be sketch when you have an automated washer shooting water through the vent onto a hot engine block... I only get hand washes now.

You can buy a cover for the battery, its a cosmetic mod that costs $90. Might be worth it for the peace of mind. I worry more about the coil pack tho. Good thing that Ford designed the thing with the expectation that stuff in the engine bay could get wet.

I've got the GTS-4 hood with those same vents. I went through an automatic car wash 1 time and while the jets were blasting at the openings, the engine bogged down. Never been back since. On the other hand, I did have to park outside for the better part of a year and had 0 issues after rain storms or driving through one.

I did however start putting a 4x6ft tarp over the top of the motor (to cover injectors and prevent water from just sitting in the valley between the heads/intake) when I knew I wasn't going to be driving her for more than a day or 2.

Think of it this way: When you're driving through the rain at 60mph, vents or no vents water is getting pretty much everywhere under your hood so it can't hurt too much to have open vents. But, just because it shouldn't hurt, doesn't mean it won't.

I have the GTS-3 hood and it is possible for water to get in the vents if you aren't careful when power washing. I had some water seep down to my COPS several times that was causing some misfires.

I am not sure if the same issue came up driving in the rain but I don't think so.

I have bigger vents in my hood (the Trufiber RTF hood) and when washing it I usually just put painters tape over the vents and try to do so when it rains just to be safe.
