CAI+Tune for highway driving

The CAI & tune is for performance. Why spend about $600 to save a mere 1-2 MPG, if that? Better to drive granny style, do more walking, save money by brown-bagging for lunch, cut out the Starbucks, drink water... We bought these cars for the wood they give us, NOT for economy.
And if you ask about an economy tune, we'll take your man-card.
Get over it, guys. When I started driving, gas was in the 45-50 cents/gallon range. How do ya' think I feel???

If you drove to and from work with me you might understand why someone would be thinking about MPG all the time. Much of the time Traffic dictates how fast your drive or at least limits how fast your drive. In those times when traffic is not an issue it is nice to open it up, the rest of the time you may as well be saving gas when your stuck driving slow.
I drove a 2009 Focus Coupe for about 6 months until the Ex wife made it disappear. It got about 32 miles per gallon no matter how hard I drove it, it was a nice quick little car. But it was front wheel drive, it had more power then it could put on the ground cleanly, it also suffered a little in turning and breaking when you were driving aggressively. It also had a bad habit of locking up all 4 wheels when you had to break hard at 60+ miles per hour, when you commute in Southern California on the freeways that is just going to be necessary some times.
My Mustang is much better behaved out of the box, at about $4000 more then the Focus Coupe I had I would say it was well worth it just for rear wheel drive and better breaks. When you add the 100+ hp and prolly 150+ ft/lbs, it is more then worth it to me. Now the Focus had more bells and whistles like Sync and heated mirrors and all that, but the truth is I don't miss them that much.
