Me too... Didn't think about that... Crap!

Although, the Sync programming shouldn't have anything to do with the engine... right?
None the less, I agree. Can't trust'em!

I'm not sure if they would screw it up cause all they are going to do is enable an option I think. But it is something to think about and plan for. You could just call http://www.syncmyride.com/ and ask them if the hands free requires programing.

I'm sure that there will be a cost for the programming at the dealer...

No doubt about that...
I called my local Ford dealer and they said they source that work out to a local dude. So I called said local dude and he gave me a price of $600 installed $400 for the kit $200 labor... and then he tried to sell me a Kenwood DDX719. I'll give him a call once I get the kit and everything status quo and go from there.
The great news is I can call him to program whatever it is that needs programming and not go through the dealership.

Well, its all installed, took me 4 hours. The instructions say to mount the control unit in the kick panel on the pass side. But, I felt it was way too tight so, I mounted it on top of the radio. All went well but, it still needs to be setup by the dealer. Going to call them tomorrow and find out the process.

Got my kit in the mail today and will install tomorrow.

Does the radio still function normally without the programming? It might be cheaper to call around to your local radio shops to see if they can do the programming. I posted earlier that my local dealer outsources that work to a local dude.

W00t! Installed today and working like a champ. Still need to have it programmed to use the remote and some other Sync related stuff. $40 on Monday will take care of that. Dig in guys, this is legit!
