Default Wieght reduction.

Been thinkining of cost effective ways to reducing wieght for the 2011s, Has anyone tried the back seat delete kit from AM? Is it better if I tried to make my own back seat delete kit?

Id do wheels/tires, aluminum driveshaft (both unsprung weight reduction), possibly remove spare tire, aftermarket mufflers remove approx 20 lbs.. 30+ if you just do a muffler delete. At very most id do carbon fiber hood and trunk, although the hood is allready aluminum and pretty light so its probably not worth doing.

Not sure how much weight that rear seat delete would take off but if its significant, and if you never use the rear seat, it may be worth it

Nothing is really all that heavy but, they add up when put together. Off the top of my head, rear seat delete, 1 piece aluminum driveshaft, carbon fiber parts, remove air conditioner, lightweight rims, some suspension mods will reduce weight, headers or, complete exhaust overhaul will cut a little bit of weight, take out spare tire and accessories, racing seats instead of motorized stock ones...

I've "heard" the rear seat delete is almost as heavy as the rear seats, and you're better off just making your own. Again, that's only what I've heard.

The rear seat delete kit reduces the weight of the car by 40 pounds. Since the back seat of a Mustang is about as useful as a screen door on a submarine, removing it would be a reasonable upgrade to the car.

Here's another one that's 1/3 the price of the steeda (no battery box, but one is available for about $100):

Shop around.
