Default Steve Saleen getting the Saleen brand back

Apparently official details are coming tomorrow, but it looks like Steve Saleen will own the Saleen name once again:

Fantastic! Now we can once again over pay for heavier, slower, expensive Mustang additions with really crappy management that over extends itself instead of focusing on projects they really do well. Welcome back! Erik

I hope he keeps his hands off the Mustang and gets them back on the Saleen Raptor concept and S7 developments.

The S7 is done. It doesn't meet federal regulations anymore.

Great, now he can reclaim the name, build some more cars, and in a few years when he goes broke again they can re-void all those new warranties.

I love the Stang, but couldn't give two ****s whose name is on it.

The new "old" Saleen S302 was 55k, and it didn't offer much more than a Premium GT other than a body kit along with a few interior mods. Hardly worth the money when 55k buys you a lot of nicer cars nowadays, and all without a live rear axle.

Again, back in the day let's say before late 07', the brand had a purpose based on the fact there wasn't really any amazing top models to the Mustang and the Camaro was a brand new idea. You had to build your own amazing car through some Saleen parts, Steeda parts, ect.. then the saleen SC, suspension, and if you were rich, they built very good 302 engines to spec.

There was only the GT500 at 500 HP, and it was fat and slower than a decently fit out Mustang GT. The initial Camaro was also(still) heavy and not very fast.

The new line of Camaros are at a whole new level, and will lose weight on their next generation, not to mention how well a very basically modified current Mustang GT, the Boss, and the soon to arrive 2013 GT500. The next generation of Mustang will at minimum have all the positive technology of the lines best cars now, plus they will lose weight a bit and have the next generation of modern suspension technology.

What could Steve Saleen possibly do to even match what Ford and GM are going to be doing with their next generation of cars, and the price point they can maintain as large companies??

The Corvettes, new Camaros, the Mustang GT(with a little help from the aftermarket) and the top Mustangs Boss and GT500 will already far out do what Saleen has ever been able to offer, and for cheaper.

What's the point? He's already proven he can't run a business on over hyping small improvements on performance and tacky body kits that give the impression of what Chess King disco suits gave in the 80's.

At least in the time it was released, the 05' Mustang was improved nicely by adding the series VI Supercharger and the Saleen Suspension. Having a tune and kit from JDM then made the 05 GT's very fast, and they still only weighed about 3560 lbs. So your GT was faster than a GT500 with a 10psi set up from JDM and the 400 lb lighter weight difference than the GT500, plus the fact it's wheels weighed 33 lbs each, compared to the GT's 25.5 lbs wheels.

Now days, other than changing out the exterior and interiors of cars, what is Saleen going to do to improve on the cars?? Trump the 2013 GT500 ? The Boss 302?? The new Camaro SS or ZL1 ?? Look at what Steve Saleen tried to do with the Challenger, he made it look a little different and made it far more expensive, and slower than the stock version of the car in a direct performance comparison. He is not an honest business person. It was the speed lab team at Saleen which was faithful, and people like Brian Chambers and the tech team that educated people on how to improve their cars, as well as Team JDM. Erik
