I can't believe they would make a change to the 2014 model after the changes they made to the 2013. That would make the 2013 a one year run. I can see the 2015 come out in May or June of 2014 and call them 2014 1/2 until September. Now that would make sense.

In marketing this phenomenon is referred to as planned obsolescence:

If you are irrevocably compelled to be on the "cutting edge" of technology/keep up with the Jonses'/have the newest or "rawest" (as you put it) thing out there then I can see how this can be discouraging but it's the nature of the beast.
In any case, you always have the option of trading-in/trading-up.
