I searched the forums and know there is a way to turn the perimeter lighting on and off in 2008 and 2009 cars but is there a way to do it in a 2012 V6 Premium? I don't know the purpose of the feature and it will cause early bulb failure.

Just curious....did you search the owners manual?

I did, the procedure that works for 2010 and earlier models now is used to turn on and off the auto door locking feature.
