I had a new clutch installed on my 2005 and noticed it makes a clicking sound when engaging first gear. I took it back to the shop and the mechanic said it is normal due to the pressure plate grabbing differently than my original clutch. He is a mustang enthusiast and rebuilt several Mustangs, so I trust his word.

I just thought it was the switch that keeps it from starting unless you push the clutch to the floor.

My 2013 GT does this. It's normal. on my old 2006 V6 i moved the clutch and gas at the same time and got no sound. On my GT i need to pull up on the gas a split second before i press the clutch.

Its a gear click sound. not a pressed switch under the dash sound.
