To me it sounds fine and I actually kind of like it. Only thing that pisses me off is the rattle all over the car.

I have been driving my mother loaded honda pilot while my cars in the body shop. You want to hear a ****ty sound system go drive one of those!!!

Its the best system I have ever had, but that isn't really saying much considering it is only beating out the factory system from my 73 mustang and the 1 speaker wonder from my 02 T/A...

I replaced the 6x8 front and rears with Kicker DS68's this weekend. In my opinion, it does sound alot cleaner but it is still sub par for a so called premium sound system. I ordered the speakers from Crutchfield. It was so much easier than I thought it would be. The only tool you really need to make the job easy is the plastic fastener tool. There are 6 of those clips in the rear that need to be removed.

Our other vehicle is a Cadillac SRX Performance. The premium Bose system in it is 100 times better than the Shaker 500.

I am bidding on some used speakers on ebay now ..... Yes, my wife’s 08 Tahoe with the mac daddy Bose is awesome. Her previous vehicle; Nissan titan with the 8 piece Fosgate system was the best factory radio I've ever heard.

I agree the Shaker 500 isn't very good. I'd say it's one of the worst components in my otherwise amazing car. That said I'm not a huge car-audiophile so I can live with it. Just like Danman0469 I love listening to the music coming from under my hood as well.

In my opinion Ford has dropped the ball in the audio section ever since inception. Main reason I didn't go with the premium option on the Mustang. I'm hoping I can get a good enough signal from the factory HU to get some decent sounds out of all the new audio stuff I'm putting in. I don't know what backwoods sound engineer has set these up but they SUCK. Always have. Even the nearly $4K "top notch" sony system in my truck blows. Or at least it did.

I have 2 12's and 4 infinity 6x8's coaxials waiting to go in. Just waiting on a weekend I don't have 100 things going on to get it all done. I barely ever have the radio on now cause it sucks so bad. But it is the base system (not that it's an excuse for poor quality).

I feel like people have come to expect a lot out of a V8 sports car in the high 20s, low 30s for price.

You get what you pay for...simple as that. I don't go into a ford dealer, buy a mustang GT, and expect to walk out with a BMW M3 lol.
