I could spin the all season pirellis from a 60mph roll on in 3rd gear. It was scary trying to pass people in 3rd. The Yokohama S. drives are so much better.

I think you are asking from a roll on in 2nd, not shifting from 1st to 2nd? I only dynoed 404/410, so not much more than a 5.0 with a intake/tune. 2nd gear roll on = tire squealing smoke show.

ok so dont laugh...im new to RWD power....

i jumped on it HARD shifting to 2nd.....and my engine died for split second...so my thought is that i need to take traction control off...is that what caused that?

Yes, it was the traction control. If your new to rwd..be careful. Be prepared to go sideways if you take TC off..or you'll wind up wrapped around a tree

my dad's 08 GT can burn thru 1st and 2nd and chirp 3rd
and he only has Airaid CAI, o/r x pipe, 3" catback, and Bama tune.
it probly only has 300 hp with stock BFG's.

roasting the tires is one thing, lifting the front tires up is a whole different ball game.

I could maybe (lol) roast tires in my 1990 honda civic in 3rd gear if I had a couple of worn out crap tires on it.

So many variables here. I can take my car out to a certain stretch of road in the morning when it's around 50 degrees and get tons of spin in 1st, 2nd from a roll. This is 285/40/18 goodyear summer tires on w/400-410whp and 4.10 gearing. 3rd gear doesn't spin.

Come back to that same stretch of road, the exact same spot, and try the same thing when it's 80 degrees out and sunny. Same car, same everything. And it won't hardly spin at all in any gear from a roll. And that's with a twinscrew on summer tires.

yeah, i was in an open area and was trying to break traction so i could learn to control it and recognize it. once the engine died, i thought it was some kind of message from god to stop f***ing around before i broke something.

Stock 10 lb pulley... but yes only 5 lbs boost. There is a chance the boost gauge isn't working correctly, maybe... my A/F gauge will blink random lights or none at all. Not sure how they are hooked up exactly

yeah I was talking about just starting from 1st and shifting into 2nd. I also meant more "does the 5.0 have enough power to spin the rear tires shifting into 2nd" versus "can you do burnouts in 2nd"... burnouts aren't that cool when you spend $200-300 a tire

I hear you on Yokohama S's, cause the car came with stock GT500 tires, the Eagle F1 supercars, and they were pretty crap. These ADVAN S's are what come on Porsche's and Ferrari's for a reason, they're pretty sticky and still feel safe in the rain. I'm glad I have 285 rears cause stock 8 inch width would not cut it

Great point... I didn't really think about that. When it was cooler out (like 40 degrees in January), 1st gear would not hook up whatsoever, felt like skating on ice. But now that it's warmer outside, 90+ degrees, 1st gear hooks pretty damn good. Much more of a "snap your neck" feeling than just sliding around

edit: not sure if i'll notice a difference (butt dyno or gauge) but i've gone about 5k miles since I got the car in october, and just ordered supercharger oil to replace its oil. It might be well past due (online manual says every 7.5k). I always thought the paxton website said "no need to lubricate the s/c" but that's for the regular HO kit... 2200 "SL", SL= self lubricated (not from oil pan). Even a few members here would say that you don't have to change the oil, one or two were even "SL" owners
Also, the air filter is dirty as HELL and i'm going to get K&N cleaner and oil later today to clean it. Also plan to clean out my throttle body.

your A/F is WB or narrow?
sounds like you have a boost leak.

Sounds to me like you need to be a little more agressive. It sounds like you're short shifting. I thought you needed to get the revs up to get the boost with a centrifugal unit.

I think it's a narrowband. Looking on the autometer website the widebands are a lot different and have the digital number display as well as the color wheel that's on mine.
I thought it could be a boost leak but thankfully there isn't a whole lot of piping. I'm going to find a hill and check the bottom connections. The only thing I don't like is how the pipes going to/from the air cooler run BELOW the subframe so they have been scraped and indented slightly due to parking barriers. Shouldn't be an issue though since it's mostly just scrapes

Here's what they look like. It idles at 20 vac

Right I agree, the only real pull was the 2nd gear pull to redline when getting onto the highway. I usually shift by feel at around 5500 rpm. Also made the video a month or so after I got the car

engine bay..
