Plasti dip my rims???
#21
Plastidipped my chin spoiler, I've taken it through the carwash about 3-4 times since. And on the highway a few times(100 mile drives each way). Still no chips for the past month or so.
However, I will say that it doesn't feel like a permanent paint job. Not smooth enough, and not enough gloss IMO. Going to take it off and get the spoiler painted this week.
However, I might plastidip it again just before the winter season to see if it would work as a "protective" cover for the paint... Might even try that for the rims.

Oh yeah, when my buddy got new tires mounted and balanced that took off most of the paint around the edges, just powder coat them and be done, ha ha. And the place that did the mounting and balancing is a good place, all touchless machines, real careful people, they only do wheels and tires and it still came off.

That's extended periods of not washing...
I just sprayed mine down once a week or so with some Turtle wax ICE and wiped them off...still looks good as new. Reasons those look like crap is called NEGLECT.
Difference between any clean and dirty car.

I know a guy who is a high performance driving instructor. A few weeks ago he was riding with a student at Virginia International Raceway (VIR). As the laps went buy a strange mechanical vibration grew louder and more prevalent so he had his student pull into the pits. They got out and walked around the car and discovered that several lug nuts were lose and starting to back out. It turns out the guy had plastidipped his wheels recently. The high heat from repeated stops on the track had melted the plastidip around the lug nuts, allowing them to loosen.
Yikes!
