Default New CAI and ITSX combo!

The FedEx guy delivered this to me and as soon as I can, it's going in.

I need gas, so I will be filling up with 93. Currently I have about 30 miles left on my tank of 87.

Question...when do I change my tune (right away or after I run a full tank through?)

I know I should not install my CAI unless I'm going to load a tune. What's the correct timing of everything?

I have 87, 91, and 93 tune files available.

I have heard people loading the 87 tune while having 93 in the tank for this same reason and not having issues. That way you can burn the 87 all the way through, load up with 93 gas, drive around until you are confident that you are full of 93 octane, then load the 93 tune.

Just not the other way around.

Hopefully someone with more experience can chime in.

Hey the Fed Ex man came to my house today too. Got a sweet DreamLites Giraffe..lol (daughter)

Yeah if you fill with 93, you are still going to have whatever was in your tank left of 87. If theres nothing left but fumes then no biggie but I would load the 87 tune until I had filled and gone thru 3 full to almost empty tanks of 93. Overkill perhaps but, I err on the safe side.
By the way, you will notice the difference even with the 87 tune.

Install the CAI, load the tune. Don't even start it, if it's like the SCT tuner, just plug it and it will pretty much give you your options and then tell you what to do.

It's not going to kill the car or anything though if you install that thing and turn your car on untuned.

Have fun!!

When I first got my tuner, I had been running 87. I uploaded my 87 tune, drove it until I got to an 1/8 tank of gas and filled it with 93.

I ran that tank to about 1/4 of the way, still using the 87 tune, filled it up again ran it 1/2 way down, filled up and uploaded the 93 tune.

Im pretty sure you don't HAVE to do it that much, I just wanted to make sure I had run all the 87 out of the system.

Thanks for the responses everyone.

I'll use the 87 tune for a couple of tanks and then change to the 93.

I'll post up a pic after installing the CAI and report back on how I like the ITSX.

I agree with the others!

You will feel a drastic change in performance with the 87 custom tune vs. 87 stock. Also, you will feel a change in performance between the 87 and 93, however it will not be as drastic.

Recently I changed my tune from 93 back to 87. Definitely felt a big loss in acceleration. Mind you it's still the 87 tune, not the factory 87. I'm switching back to 93 soon as I'm low on fuel.

Just fill her up with 93 when it's real low, run it with the 87 tune for a few miles to flush out the lines, then load the 93 tune.

I will be doing the same soon, but I always run 92 or 93 octane gas any way even without a tune or CAI. I will be ready when FEDEX arrives at my house!!

If I were you I would run the tank as close to empty as possible, fill up with 93 and after a hundred miles or so install the CAI and the 93 octane tune. And never use 87 again.

Finally getting around to posting a pic of it after installing it a few weeks ago. Both the CAI, tune, and ITSX were supplied by Steeda.

The install was fairly easy. Took my son and I about an hour. Would take quite a bit less the next time. The only real issue we had was adding the rubber to the edges. It doesn't like square edges, so we had to really work the corners down. Not a problem, just takes some patience.

There is another thread on here mentioning the lack of details in the instructions. That was regarding one for the 11-12 GT. For mine, I had to read through them several times until I got to that "aha" moment where it sunk in. After reviewing them after install, they make sense. About the only area of improvement I could suggest would be a parts inventory. There are a few different size bolts and reading '1/4" inch-20 X 3/8 inch button head and #10-32 X 5/16 button head' a few different times in the text can make your head spin after a while.

Regarding the 91-93 tune...Oh my...pulls strong in gears 1-4. It's very jumpy until you get used to it. Really woke the car up. The 87 tune is adequate. There is a difference but it's not acceptable after using the 91-93 tune.

I asked Steeda regarding the gas question. They said it was fine to just fill up with the 93, reflash and go. I did fill up from nearly empty.

The ITSX is OK. Everything connects via bluetooth, so I had to set that up first before I could load the tunes. Loading the tunes take about 5-10 minutes. Not extremely long, but if you're in a hurry it seems like a long time.

There are some performance tests and some gauge views that are available. To activate them, it has you turn your key off and on...so you'd better plan on using them prior to getting on the road. Or find a safe place to pull off while you get everything set up.

I'm a novice when it comes to modding...so if anyone has any questions, feel free to ask, but keep in mind I may shrug my shoulders.

Thanks to Steeda for helping me spend my money!

Happy modding!
