And are the Percy gaskets a better option than the Ford Racing set? Wouldn't mind saving a few bucks buying those through AM. But if Percy is what I want, I'll do it right the first time.
I would go with the Percy gaskets....IMHO there the best and there's nothing worse then driving around with a header gasket leak.

Also, How about something like these http://www.stage8.com/perfauto.html
Stage 8 locking fasteners. Has anybody has any experience using them on headers ?

I read about them but, never used them. I would definitely use them, if I remember during a future project. Exhaust bolts always loosen so it's a good idea. They always use these bolts on the car shows on Spike TV on the weekends and swear by them but, it's also a paid advertisement, so, i still think it's a good idea.

If you plan on going big down the road... the Long tubes are a great investment. Dont even think about shorties. Just don't.
They won't do what the long tubes will do for you no matter what shortie owners tell you. PERIOD.
OH yeah.. we had BBK's and had big issues with fitment. They went in fine but we had all sorts of hell with them touching each other
where the tubes were when they got warm and the buzzing sound was HORRIBLE. Like we had five hives of bees in the dash.

Pypes LT's plus the stuff in the picture. Retorqued after a couple of weeks and a year later it still no exhaust leaks.

Thanks Blacksmoke, wasn't even considering shorties

If the guy doesn't get in contact with me this week I'm just going to move on and buy an h pipe for now. Headers will be down the road when I can easily swing the full price. Sure my paycheck just came through, but I have to save for school too.

Hoping for the guy to finally text me back, though. Would like to go with the longtubes in the first place.

Thanks for the pic Hack Job! I'll pick up some of the copper gasket when I get off work Monday.

I only used Percy gaskets and regular hardware. No leaks after 2.5 years of tire spinning fun. I have checked the nuts a few times and none have come lose either. A 13mm flexhead ratcheting wrench is a must though. Dont attempt install without spending the $15 on one. Trust me on this. Gloves too.

As an owner, I would say the same about L/T's...they won't do what shorties will.lol

Improve low/mid range torque
Save a sh#tload of $$
Pass emissions everytime

Bottom line bro...get headers, long or short depending on your needs.
"Big Plans" require big air, so l/t's are a no-brainer for you!
I would have done it all over again just for the sound improvement, which was the original reason you wanted headers to begin with...right?
bud!
