Default Trade my '10 M90'd GT in for a 2013 GT?

Add another idiot who can't poop or get off the pot here. I went looking at Shelby's today in Denver and seriously, the cheapest one in town is 73k (average is 80k). Every dealer in Denver is adding a 10-20k markup to the cars and is refusing to budge. Of course, they arent selling any either!

I have all my mods in my sig, but overall I'd say I have in the neighborhood of 10-12k worth of upgrades in my '10. I know Im going to take a bath on trading it.

I ended up at a dealer who may have been willing to make a smoking deal on a fully loaded '12GT that is new but it's red and Im not a big fan of red. It does look better with the option package they have on it though. Sticker is 42, but there was no talk of numbers really because I was holding back (waiting for underwriting on a home refi so Im not touching my credit right now!)

I took my wife down to see it and she liked it too, but then we saw a Gotta Have It Green. Cloth Recaros, recaro brakes, the recaro style wheels, 3.73...pretty decent sticker of around 36. I thought it looked like crap in pictures, but in person it's very nice color!

Money's not going to be a problem. I just don't want to be disappointed if the 5.0 isn't the beast my '10 GT M90 SC sportin 4.10's is. I know it can be made to outpace mine pretty quick...

Am I just being a darn idiot or what?

You're outrunning all 5.0's at the moment. I would hold out until the 662 HP shelby is down to 60-65k area; few months maybe? The GT is half the price of a shelby..... Get a gt or Boss and put on a blower for <50K.

But man, the Shelby is just flat out BADAZZ

Ehh.. unless you want more power (5.0 with a blower for 550whp) then I don't really see the point. I definitely enjoy the sound and feel of a blower over all motor, even if they make the same power. However I imagine a 5.0 with intake/tune/exhaust/cams would be very close to your M90 4.6L

Wcgman,

You just told me in my thread to keep my 2010 over getting a new car!!! I'm debating the same thing as you! Why are you thinking about a 13 over keeping your supercharged 10?

If you aren't absolutely sure about the purchase, don't do it.

The 2013 5.0's are putting down around 380 hp to the wheels, bone-stock, and it definately feels like more than that with the 3.73's. Well over 400 hp at the wheels can be had (without voiding your warranty) in the form of LT headers/high-flow cats/catback, which will obviously flow much better and improve your fuel economy along with that extra hp/tq, and then there's Accel coil-on-plugs, which will pick you up another 10 hp/tq at the wheels just for that extra bit of pull, and also slightly improve your fuel economy as well.

I guess it really depends on what kind of numbers your 2010 is putting down, and if you'd be willing to trade for a much better N/A platform to modify. There are plenty of other bolt-on options.

BTW, what kind of power is your 2010 putting down?

I would make absolutely sure of this before buying the '13. There are several posts regarding a memo sent six months ago to all Ford dealerships about voiding the engine / drivetrain warranty over things like reflashed PCMs, headers, CAI's, etc.

If you're not worried about voiding the drivetrain warranty with mods, then definitely go ***** out... but don't cry when your new '13 with the flashed PCM and $6,000 worth of engine damage is denied warranty work by Ford.

Gotta pay to play.
