Default Dragging Sound

Hey everyone, recently (about 2 weeks ago) I had noticed an odd dragging sound whenever I drove my mustang. The sound is similar to something being dragged under the car like a metal sound whenever driven. You can't hear it when your in park or neutral either and revving the engine. The odd part is when the car is running at his normal temp you can't hear the sound anymore while driving. The sound also stops when your driving cold and stepping on the brakes. I'm thinking it could be the pads, rotors, or calipers. I'm not really sure myself. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks for any help

You must've run over the Tinman from Wizard of Oz...

In all seriousness, have you pulled your wheels to check your pads?

Every once in a while, a small piece of metallic grit will get trapped between the pad and the rotor...could be that. Could also be your parking brake dragging.

Sounds like a brake issue from your description.

Well the tinman only caused problems anyway I would hope he didn't take my car's oil

But unfortunately, I haven't gotten a chance to check if there is anything trapped between the pad and the wheel. I did a visual inspection at the time and couldn't see anything that might cause the dragging sound to occur.

I also checked if it was the parking brake or anything dragging, but I didn't find anything wrong either. I'm defiantly thinking it has to be between the pads and the wheels. It sounds as if thats where its coming from anyway.

Agreed, its not coming from the engine bay or power plant and does sound as if its coming from outside. Like I said when I step on the brake the sound stops. So I can't imagine it not being the brakes. Those two factors are too closely related. Because brakes do heat up it might explain why the sound stops when the car is at a normal running temp.
