I doubt it since the shifter is remote. I guess if it tried to shift on its own under hard acceleration due to the weight could cause issues. It does sound heavy though.
i was always told stuff like that is hard on the shift fork.. kinda like in pickups/1 ton trucks with manuals, guys rest their hand on the shifter while driving it puts pressure on the shift fork causing it to keep pressure on the gear causing it to ware and get sloppy faster
I was able to cut the weight of the **** in half. I put it back on my lathe and bored out some areas and put a longer bevel on it. It should be safe now.
