Default Performance mods for new Mustang

Hello guys, I am new to the forum and Mustangs. I have always been a Vette guy but the new Mustangs drew me in. I have a 2013 GT/CS 6 speed standard. I have ordered the Flowmaster cat back system and would like advise on which tuner. I am also thinking about a CAI but don't know if they really help or if it's just hype. I have also seen the BOSS intake but it seems like alot of expense for 14hp. There are so many diffrent products and adds it is confusing to a first time Mustang owner. I am only interested in bolt on's and do not want a supercharger. I like to spin the tires and run 0-60, I have no interest in top speed or road course driving.

First off...
Just be aware adding a tune etc. will more than likely void your warranty unless you have a nice dealer.

Now that that's out of the way...
American Muscle and Brenspeed always have good tunes.
Best thing is to buy a Cold Air Intake, Tuner, and tune combo pack.

That's the first mod.
Second is find out what gear ratio you have and if you don't have...
get either 3.73's or 4.10's.
Since you want to spin those tires and feel the "throw you back in your seat" feel,
I'd get 4.10's. I almost went 3.73's on our 06GT when we had it but drove two friend's cars, one with each of them...
and I was SO GLAD I went with the 4.10's.
4.10's are what it sounds like you would enjoy the most as well.

Long tube headers are a good mod.
Especially if you go with some cams later.

I would not have gone with a cat back system.
I would have gone with axle back if you want sound and long tube headers
if you wanted sound and performance.

Cat back isnt gonna gain you much for the money. You can get the same sound pretty much from axle back, and
you aren't gonna gain power worth spending money on with the cat back... I dont care WHAT they advertise!

Heck if I were you I'd cancel the order or call them and tell them you are gonna return it unopened.

Good advise, since this is a daily driver how would 4:10's affect drivability and gas milage? I think it has 3:55's right now but I will check.

Gas mileage wont go up much at all.. if any.
Especially since you have a manual and can control your RPMs.

Driveability is a non issue. It's not like getting a really aggressive cam or anything.
It just gives you the "punch" you want WHEN you want it.
It will be much easier to spin those tires. I guarantee ya that!
I still say go 4.10's. Don't get a mod then wish you got more for your money later.

Again... I say cancel the cat back order.
You are throwing money down the toilet.
Your stock pipes are good in that car and the cat backs will give you next to none, or NO
performance gain. No matter WHAT they advertise.
Get axle back for much cheaper for sound... or like I said, long tube
headers if you want sound and performance and something that will give you even MORE performance out of mods down the road if you get more.

long tubes help cams and other things such as superchargers, turbos, etc. get
better gains.

Why do people insist on posting crap like this when the OP states from the start he does NOT want a supercharger and wants to do bolt-ons?

Oh yeah... they do it just to have something to friggin type so they
can look at their own words.

Not everyone is a forced induction type of person.

i would of passed on the flowmaster exhaust but thats totally a preference thing and i agree with 4.10 gears as far as tuner goes i would get the frpp tuner it will not void your warranty just have to pay ford to hit the button to keep it under warranty. It is just a good of tuner with the peace of mind of not loosing the warranty

Good grief man... RUN ON sentence anyone? ahahaha!
Need some punctuation and capitalization practice homie!

The flowmaster axle back is actually more than a preference thing simply because he chose the cat back and it is causing him to throw away money.
Good pointer on if you want to keep your warranty and get a tune.
Get the Ford tune if you want to do both.

I am unsure how it performs next to the other guys tunes though.

No you have it wrong. The cat back is a waste.
If you want more bang for the buck for performance get long tube headers and an X pipe.

The cat back is not going to gain him squat on performance.
It's really no "upgrade" at all.
If he buys a flowmaster cat back and later decides to get headers (Which is what gives you gains and even MORE gains after adding
the other mods I mentioned), he will have to toss the flowmaster cat back because
the x pipe has to match the header fitment.

Thus... get axle back for sound and pocket the savings, or get long tubes and an x pipe for both sound, performance, and more gains
later down the road if he adds more mods.
Cat back= throwing away cash.
