Default 07 GT Auto shifter

So have an 07 GT Premium with the silver automatic silver lever cover and it is malformed at the top along the seam where the two halves snap together. While functionally this does not matter, the feel bothers me. Is the silver lever/shifter cover just snapped on over the stock black casing or does it replace it entirely? i could just make a cover for it out of vinyl it the piece is important and not just cheap dress-up, but would prefer not to have to.

Ah yes the auto shifter, what a POS.
Hmm, ok its like when the guy tells Joel in one of my favorite movies of all time, Risky Business...
Sometimes you gotta say "what the f&ck", and make your move.
If you can't say it...you can't do it.
You will need to be in this mindset to use the following link...

Looks like ill have to get creative with this one. No way im spending 500.00 on a giant ratcheting shifter... Ill probably make a cover for it and be done with it.

Wow did they have a price increase. When I bought mine they were around $325 or so. FWIW, its not a giant shifter. The quality, feel and performance is as good as it gets. Worth every dollar IMO.

The silver piece can be removed very easily, but good luck finding a replacement. I think the entire assembly is a single part #, may want to hit up junk yards for just the trim pieces.

I took mine apart to fix the small plastic strip that lets you know which gear you are in. There are 4 plastic snap-tabs that secure it to the shifter assembly.

Edit: if it is just the shifter itself, a single recessed screw on the front holds this in place. it is also very easy to remove.

Good thread that shows how to access the assembly.
