Moose has a point. Are keys are chipped how do you start a car without one? New cars are not like old cars where you just cross some wires under the dash. These guys were just really stupid. Was there anything that might be considered of value in the car on the seats etc?

OP you may want to talk to your agent about changing your deductible for this type of damage. I have my collision high in case I screw up. I have the other (comprehension?) low in case of vandalism and it doesn't **** me off twice. Damage plus deductible cost.

That's the way I used to think. If something is my fault then I ought to suffer some adverse monetary consequence so that I have an incentive to be more careful in the future. I no longer believe that I will be able to collect from the other party or their insurance, even if I am not at fault. Consider hit-and-run, the other driver doesn't have insurance, etc.

OP, what happened to you sucks. Other than being out your deductible, everything should work out. The damage seems to be something that can be repaired to new condition.

Thanks again everyone for the advice and tips. Sadly thinking back, half of an xbox360 game case was showing underneath a beach towel =[ my fault! geico just called the damage was $1300.00 and will take 4 business days. So glad im just responsible for my $500!

Lol, WTF? Strong misunderstanding of how insurance companies work.. it's not like the insurance company is collecting 1300, that's a body shop estimate. So if you want to blame anyone for being a crook blame the shop and the parts supplier. Take it to any shop and have them give you quotes..
