dump it or powershift it (burnout)
Car makes about 400whp uncorrected. Sometimes a little more sometimes less. I'm on the stock clutch, 27" tires, and 4.10 gears. 3650 stock transmission.
Just put a line lock in and am not sure which is the lesser of the two evils here. I need 2nd gear to generate much tire speed. So it's either a 2nd gear dump and hope the clutch holds. Or risk destroying the transmission learning how to powershift into 2nd during the burnout.
What is more likely to break something first? I am an average driver at best if that helps. Need to learn how to do this if I'm going to track the car so looking for the best approach.

I dump mine in 2nd. Just watch your rpms, don't let it hit the limiter.
I've also burned out past the starting line, so maybe I shouldn't be giving burn out advice. The track officials don't appreciate that at all.

Yes I know the stock clutch is at it's limits. YMMV. I've read of people who had it go a lot quicker than others. Depends on if you're one of the lucky ones or not.
Street tires (285/40/18 goodyears) to practice with first on the street. At the track it would be 285/40/18 NT05R drag radials.

I know someone else who said his was slipping at 408whp. That sucks. I guess I'm "lucky" in the sense that mine isn't slipping yet lol.
I know the stock clutch is pretty good (for what it is) but it's not gonna handle that many 5K clutch dumps at the starting line before frying. I'm not sure what would be harder on it. That or the 2nd gear dumps at the box. At least at the box the tires are wet.

So the consensus seems to be just dump it in 2nd gear then. OK. 4000 rpm?
When I need to go out and learn I'll start with 1st gear then try 2nd after I get used to this. I guess I'll bring some water with me and douse the tires. Can't hurt.
It would be nice if the clutch survives but I'm doubtful it will handle the punishment at the track. If it breaks I'll be getting a Mcleod. Not looking forward to the install but gotta pay to play I suppose.
