I took off the wipers, it wasnt a huge issue, I bought the thing to do it.. best $12 I spent in a while..

Thank you for the pictures obxdude018, but I am a bit confused, you circled 4.. but there are 10? Where are the other 6? I definitely don't want to risk anything... I may even make a tutorial for noobs such as myself or a "updated video" that covers everything. everyone who helped will be credited in the vid.. I can see this being a super long term issue for future owners of these cars.

I will do the drivers side drain also, I didn't even check for it.. thanks for that info SD.

and thank you everyone else for your help my stress level has sunk down 80%.. The TSB came out before I bought the car new at the FORD dealership, I wish they just said "heyyyy buddy! thanks for spending 23 grand here, in about 4 or 6 years a little rubber thing under this plastic thing will clog up.. its a simple task to do but you can always bring it here for us to do". that would be asking too much though

wouldnt that just be 8 total?

are the drains that get clogged the other 2?

when water fills up from the drain, where does it actually leak into the cabin from? cant that be blocked or anything to prevent this from happening again?

It runs in thro the air vent system after the cabin air filter.

We had this experience with our 2005 Saleen earlier in the year.

Thanks to saleen owners and various other forums the problem was easily sorted.

1) Two rubber drain grommets in lower firewall area get plugged up with leaves, etc. Make sure these drains are cleaned out regularly.
2) The 10 Foam seals under the 10 windshield cowl mounting tabs.
3) The entire windshield cowl welded seam at the top of the firewall under the windshield cowl.
4) Rubber grommets entering the cabin through the firewall.
5) Rubber grommets in both doors where they attach to the car body.

The Ford TSB covers each of these well known leak spots. I used Westwood seam sealer on #2 & 3 instead of Ford's crazy expensive TA-2 sealant.

All mustangs from 2005 to at least 2012 (I have a 2008 and a 2012) have the same fire wall, vent area set up and can have the same issues with filling with debris and flooding into the cabin through the cabin air filter. I think they started sealing the 10 cowl grommets a different way in 2009 so from then on they might not be as common a source of issues.

The two rubber drain "valves" on the fire wall, one low between the battery area and engine and one low on the drivers side between the engine and steering shaft, are easy to keep clean and flowing. Every time you check something under the hood just stick your finger up through the bottom slit and make sure there isn't anything stuck in there. You don't have to remove the top plastic cowl pieces to clean these drain valves. If they are really clogged you can pull the rubber "valves" right off the firewall and allow better access to clean out the holes. You can also flush with a hose from the top down through the cowl grill openings to allow debris to flow out through these holes. Once they are clean just put them back in place in the openings in the metal firewall.
