This got me to wondering, would it be reasonable to have a winter tune?

About boost in cold weather, we have 8 compound positive displacment air compressors at the plant I work in. Kind of like a huge 2 stage blower. My welding shop is the closest t the boiler house. In the winte I can hold a steady 105 PSI on the air guage. In the summer it falls to between 90 & 95 PSI.
I'm in East Limestone. You'll find me sitting in traffic on 72 in the evenings lol. .

Also interesting about the boost.. I have always heard that FI cars have a huge benefit from the colder temps. A couple of my buddies with turbo cars always rave about winter!

To the 2 other north Alabama posters, if you hear any body that says that they run 85 on 565 in the afternoons, you know they are a liar! Always glad to see people on the forum that I would never really meet more than likely.

Talking Fall/Winter = natural intercooler. =-)

This thread reminds me, I need to reinstall my 91P tune to put back the 3 degrees of timing I pulled because of Summer pinging! Get some extra POWA back!

Good thread Kevin.
It's getting cold here in Colorado and yes my car loves the cold.
They chemically treat the roads here before it snows which is good, but that
chemical glaze hangs around after the snow is gone.
Gotta be careful. Yesterday my *** end broke loose when she shifted into second.
4.10's no like chemical glaze.

I've always loved winter driving because of how much more responsive the car feels.
When I was up north my MPG seemed to improve during the winter months, highway driving. City driving I always adveraged 18mpg.

I also in north Alabama, Madison. What so hard to believe about running 85 on 565 in the afternoon?

More humor than anything. Used to work in Huntsville for years. The traffic west of Madison was / is awful @ 4:45 when I was trying to get home. Always loved third shift. Traffic going the other way. Cars come to an absolute STOP at the west bound on ramp for highway 20. I guess people do not know how to merge, so they throw out the anchor. Then there was the draw bridge here. Another hello to a close neighbor on this forum. This thread seems to have "collected" us! 4 people within a 25 mile radius on this thread alone.

As the one poster was talking about thermal dynamics, we work with a lot of that as well. Single pass & return pass heat exchangers & condensors. We actually have a heat exchanger that is so efficient that it cools from 1000 degrees F to 300 degrees F in a single 20 foot tube pass. If you look it up in the equipment listings for heat exchangers you will not find it. It is listed as a steam generator. I work in a chemical plant.
