How many miles did you get out of your OEM clutch?

Sounds like some folks are getting high mileage out of their OEM clutches. I only drive 3.8 miles to work and it is all back roads, which I heard is a lot more wear and tear on the clutch. I've been driving 5 speed vehicles over 15 years now. I owned a 95 Pontiac Grand am (5 speed) and when I sold it, it had 99K with no clutch issues. I also owned a 98 Ford Explorer Sport (5 speed) and the clutch went out around 70K. VW Passat clutch went out around 120K miles.

Mustangs are known for throw out bearing issues. the part mfg, has some issues with the grease that is contained within the bearing. This has been going on since the 90's. It was extremely bad during the 99-04 model years. The 05-current you don't hear about the issue as much.

I have never had a Mustang GT long enough to wear out a clutch (the most I drove one was about 45,000 miles), but they will last a very long time if you don't drive like an idiot. The newer models are strong - since Ford knows that a large percentage of GT coupes are going to be modified extensively.
FWIW, my diesel truck at work (a 2006 International with a 12-liter Cummins engine) has 430,000.....yes 430,000......miles on it and the clutch was replaced once at about 280,000 miles when another driver had it before it was assigned to me. It pulls up to 80,000 pounds and has a ten-speed, non-synchronized manual transmission.
I own a 2002 Nissan Sentra with about 135,000 miles and it is still on the original clutch and the original rear drum brakes. It's all in how you drive it and maintain it. I bought it new eleven years ago, and I am the only person to drive it 99 percent of the time. I will eventually pass it down to my teenage son.....so then I'll have an excuse to buy a new Mustang GT. LOL!

I just replaced the clutch on my '06 Mustang GT with 72,000 miles.
The clutch disk blew up by trying to force it into 1st gear going like 40MPH.
Even though the clutch pedal is engaged, (and the engine is disconnected from the clutch) The clutch is still being stun-up by the rear wheels through the drivetrain.
When you downshift, and the clutch is pressed in, you can hear the throwout bearing reving up to rev match, but when you're going like 40MPH, and force into first, the clutch is being over-rev'd till it shreds itself.
Here's pics of the blown clutch disk.....
