Whipple HO with no cats? smaller pulley?

I would say yes. If you ever want to increase boost, you are going to get belt slip. It's a problem with all positive displacement superchargers at high boost. If you decide to upgrade to the 10 rib later, you'll have to remove the entire supercharger to install the new snout. Better to do it all at once in my opinion.
Second option: if the whipple 10 rib is too far out of your price range, consider a Thump_rrr tensioner. They are a huge improvement over stock and mine completely cured my shredding belts, but I still got some belt slip at high RPMs.

+1. Even with a fresh belt and Thump Tensioner, I still got belt slip roughly half the time I went full throttle on the 3.125" 6 rib.
OP, if you go with the ten rib setup, there is only one upper pulley option due to hood clearance issues. You will have to change the lower to change boost. The lowest boost option pulley for the 10 rib makes 11-12psi.
