Default Any way I could squeeze more power?

So, I'm looking for a little more of a power increase. I have a C&L with a 91 race tune but still feel like my car lags. Can you guys give me some suggestions as to what to consider for a quicker v6? Maybe some bolt on mods? Much appreciated

V6's are hard to get extra power out of. You got a CAI/tune which is the best option, after that gears and a T-loc are the next step.

You can always spray it, i know there a bunch of kits out there that wont damage your engine if you do it right.

Unless you go FI, you're left with nickle and dime HP gains/free-ups.
  • Gears will always make you quicker but not gain you power
  • An aluminum DS will free-up a few ponies by reducing rotational mass/driveline loss
  • Lighter wheels will free-up a few ponies by reducing rotational mass/driveline loss
  • The combo of cams and headers on the GT adds as much if not more than the CAI & tune combo but I don't know numbers for the V6
  • Weight loss for better power-to-weight ratio
  • Strong tail wiind

Full exhaust (headers/x-pype/cat-back), gears (373's for an auto/410's for a manual), A custom tune (always nets more power than a "canned" tune.

If you want BIG power, here they are in order of cost (cheapest to most expensive): Spray, supercharger, turbo.

Keep in mind that if you go for the BIG power you will have to build other things to support the extra power for a sustained amount of time. Good luck!

Save up for a blower/turbo.. you won't feel satisfied with anything less lol.

Just trade up to a GT, cheaper & easier.

You have two choices. Go big with FI and keep your car or sell it for a GT. I decided to keep my car and do the super charger. I'm pretty happy with it, but it's not for everyone. There are some annoying maintenance issues in the colder weather and the fear that something might break. But it's a blast!

Default question

im new to this site , seems to be very helpful . i was wondering if it is possible to custom make a bracket for a v6 s197 to fit a v8 supercharger. i notice its easy to find blowers for v8s but hard for v6 . plus would be a lot cheaper if you could do this . i dont see why not , just wonder what everyone else thinks of this .
