I had to remove my Roush Hood scoop to install racing stripes. It was drilled into the hood and reinforced with 3M tape. And let me tell you, that 3M tape was on there tough! I really had to work to pull that hood scoop up after I loosened the screws.

Same with a CDC Deck lid panel I previously had installed. I removed that...which was held on with 3M tape...and I really, really, really had to work to break the bond between the 3M tape and the paint.

A taped on hood scoop should hold just fine. But as others have stated, it's all in the prep work.
