Siphon Gas for Indoor Show?
I need to siphon around a quarter of the tank for a local indoor show this weekend. I cannot drive the car to use up the fuel, so I was hopng to siphon it out.
Can this be done on the 05-09 style?
Thanks,
Sean

You can siphon out the gas by removing the rear seat and removing the fuel pump assembly itself and using a hand/electric/battery operated siphoner/pump. Thats about the only way you can siphon gas out of the tank on modern cars nowadays that have access to the fuel pump under the seats/carpeting. You can also take out the fuel filter and just turn the key to the on position.

Question, are they also asking you to disconnect your battery for the show too? If so, ask yourself this question, 'how are they going to check your fuel level?" Answer: They won't.
Been to many indoor shows and everyone of them always asks you to have a quarter of the tank or less fuel in it. They have never once checked my fuel level at those shows It's more of a guide line then a hard and fast rule that they check. The reason behind it is so that "if" the fire marshal pulls a fire safety inspection at the show they won't get busted for it. Again, in all the indoor shows I have been to not once has the fire marshal showed up. And ever since I got my battery cover I don't even disconnect my battery any more again, because they never check it.

Who knows if they are going to check each car or not. I had to drive the car tonight home from its hibernation spot and burned off a bit of gas. Hopefully they don't check every car as there is going to be over 1000 cars at this show (Detroit Autorama)

and the roller coaster of a fill tube which
is almost 2 feet long, its impossable to get
all the fuel out of a S197 Mustang thru the
filler tube.

I would not recommend removal of the fuel filter to empty
the tank. The Schrader Valve on the fuel rail in the engine
compartment would be much easier and a lot safer...
You can pull the fuel out of the drivers side with a small 5/33
piece of air line but its slow going...
There is not a separate fuse for the 'fuel level' gauge.
You would have to pull the fuse for the entire instrument
cluster and noting on the cluster would work.
And you would throw DTCs and CELs by the dozen...
So pull the rear seat, open up the two access panels
for the fuel tank, remove the two fuel tank covers and
siphon the gas out from there.
Or do the Schrader Valve trick...
But why when they dont even check...
