Default Looking for an axle back exhaust that's not too loud

A friend has a 2006 Mustang GT with Flowmaster mufflers. It sounds great from outside the car as it pulls away and he get's on it. I drove it a few days ago and from the drivers seat the drone is very loud and the noise inside the car is almost unbearable. I'm looking to add an axle back system to a 13 Mustang GT that is louder that stock, but not a drone monster.

I'm hoping you folks can point me in the direction of a good axle back system that's not LOUD.

A lot of people do the Roush and GT500 axle backs. I'm ordering the Roush ones because they sound better to me. I don't think either of those have any drone issues. I've heard that quite a few people with Flowmasters have problems with the dreaded drone.

I went with CORSA on my'06 GT 'vert and I love it. Absolutely ZERO drone. Nice quiet purr at cruise, but sounds off nicely at WOT.

There is always Borla's S type. Good sound on a cold start up, nice and quiet at warm idle, great sound at WOT. Sounds great cruising and NO DRONE.

I have researched for this exact thing. Corsa sounds great but they are really proud of their product. Rightfully so, apparently.

Roush and GT500 (Also the Bullitt axle backs for the 05-09) all seem to fit that no drone category as well.

I however ended up with Borla Touring axle backs. I love them. Perfect idle and cruise volume. No annoying drone. Nice deep tone. Plenty of volume on the gas. I'll probably go full catback at some point as honestly, I could go a bit louder if it's drone free, but I'm very happy as it is.

Thanks for the various recommendations Folks. I had a 2010 C6 Coupe and had Borla Touring axle backs and liked them, but the Rousch and GT500 axle backs sound interesting. Where do you buy them? Had the Borla Touring already on the Corvette, want something different on the Mustang GT.

Give Terry at call at Street Lethal Performance. He'll be able to take care of you. Corsa, Borla, Flowmaster, Magnaflow...whatever you're looking for. I'd personally go for the Corsa's. Corsa has NO drone and sounds fantastic when you get on it! I will be retiring my Pype Bombs soon for a set of Corsa's.

NO drone! Best exhaust on the market IMO! Let me know if I can help.
