Tire Size on 2011 GT
I recently acquired my first (bare with me) Mustang and, although fairly new, am considering replacing tires (Nitto NT 555's mounted on Vossen CV3 wheels). Currently, I have 245/35/20 on front and 275/30/20 on rear. For starters, the sidewall difference does not make sense to me and may explain the small gap between tire and wheel on rear. Insight and suggestions are much appreciated. I am thinking of changing out for 255/35/20 and 285/35/20.

Your front tires are .25 inches taller than the rears. If you change to the size you suggested your rear tires are going to be .75 taller than the fronts. Whats the problem with what you have now I don't get it? Is the car lowered? Got pics?

Yes, there should now be some pictures up as I just joined the forum. There is a small gap between sidewall and rim on rears. I was speculating they should have been 275/35/20 instead of 275/30/20 to cover the gap. Moreover, I was thinking I may replace fronts if I were to replace rear and go with a wider stance.

When doing staggered sizes, sometimes the sidewall size has to be different in order to keep the overall height equal or a bit taller on the rear. It really depends on the actual tire sizes selected.
As for the gap from the tire and the rim, that could be tire design. Not an issue unless the tire is extremely narrow for the rim. A lot of tires have a protective bead along the rim edge that does not sit tight to the rim.

the sidewall is a percentage of the width.. Your 295's are taller and have more sidewall than the fronts.

Your fronts are 27 inches tall, and your rears are 28.1 inches tall
I have 255/40/19s on the front with 295/30/20s on the rear and the tires are the same height

Thanks for all the feedback. I am a newbie but already love this place. I think I am going to rock the E_cox310 setup of 255/35/20 front and 295/35/20. I know they are not the nicest but I will probably stick with the Nitto NT55 Extreme ZR's on my Vossens as I have found some good deals.

these are 27 inch tires, i think 28 inchers would look a bit better. the tradeoff would be that taller tires are heavier and reduce the effective gear ratio.
ill probably go with 315/30/20 r888s on the rear when i need
or 295 35 20's.. what tires do you have that come in that size? supersports?
