i get 10.5 mpg average on the street. on a good day ive seen 11.5. On the highway i once got 33.5 witch was amazing then i put my foot down and it got about 23. 13-14 on the street is amazing and i think 23 on the highway (70 mph cruising 6th) is about average.

Love driving it and running the roads. As part of the Track Pack option on the car is the 3:73 gears. This low gear ratio, low for the street at least, may have an adverse effect with the gas mileage as well as being directly proportional to my right foot. The window sticker says 16 city & 26 highway. I don't know how Ford came up with 26 mpg for the hwy, must have been a GT with the stock rear gears, because I get a best of 23 mpg and 13-14 city. Only 4600 miles on it so far so maybe it'll get better as the engine gets broken in, but I would think it's broken in by now........especially the way I drive it.
Are you other Coyote engine 11-13 GT owners getting the same mileage, or are you getting better?

You bought a Mustang that was spec'd out for basically, autocrossing..... and your complaining about not getting decent gas mileage? Should have done some better homework while car shopping before ya popped on this one.... Very cool car! 3:73's are the way to go, on the street that is......

I have the 3.7 manual with 3:31s, and 255/45/18s with pretty heavy 5 spoke chrome wheel that weigh 50 lbs each. My combined average mpg is 28, I get up to 33 on the freeway. We're at 800 ft elevation to 2,000 ft most of the time, no mountains in WI. I usually red line it a few times every time I go out, especially getting on the freeway. I believe it is not the fast acceleration that gets poor mileage, it the quick stops. Acceleration turns gas into motion, stopping turns motion into heat.
The 3.7 will totally turn the gas off to the engine when coasting in gear...not sure how well that works with the auto. I run 89 octane, I seem to get better mileage for city driving with 89 that 87, doesn't make any difference on the highway. btw, I do not have the factory lip(spoiler).

2013 GT500
Drive for mileage: 17/24
Thrash: 7/14
Average over its 3400 miles: 14.9
I've seen 24.x on the highway as well. Everyone ought to already be aware that habits are a huge majority of the results.

Ignoring fuel cut on deceleration, hard stops only save the amount of fuel that it would have taken to cruise however much extra distance you drove at speed before hitting the brakes, minus the fuel used on closed throttle at slightly above idle rpm for the same period of time.
As far as I'm concerned, it's worth the tiny fuel use penalty to brake harder than necessary at least occasionally when it is safe to do so. Staying "current" with what hard braking feels like takes a lot of the drama out of the hard stops that you must make. Who would you rather have behind you - the driver for whom a hard stop is nothing special or the one who first stomps on the brake pedal and then panics at the feel of ABS activation?
