rear bumper delete?

Another thing to remember is , unless you have muffler deletes or a mid muffler system, you are gonna have these two giant mufflers highly visible and even the small borlas look like ricer fartcans when exposed that much.

There's a company called RetroUSA that makes chrome overlays for the existing S197 bumpers.
Not my personal cup o' tea (I don't think chrome "works" on the S197), but if you're really intent on some type of old school bumper look, it could be an option.
As far as showing the naysayers and claiming your "genius" title, just keep in mind, sometimes the naysayers are just trying to persuade you that stepping off the cliff, because you think you can fly, might not be the best idea...

Like someone else said, lower the front only and put taller tires out back. I put my stock spring in the rear and a 28 inch tall drag radial. It looked jacked up in the back and road really weird.

I think I know what the OP is going for.
Perhaps not a delete, but a rear bumper that has a reduced lip to flush it up with the tailights.
That combined with some really stacked tires/wheels would probably do it.
It would be similar to what you see people do to mid 90's chevy pickups occasionally. The bumper removed and flush with the tailgate. I don't think I've ever seem a late model 'Stang with the old butt in the air stance of the older muscle cars. Could be cool.
