Plasti-dipped my wheels!

Plasti-dipped my wheels!
It finally came time to take my winter wheels/tires off and put on my spring/summer tires. Both of my sets of wheels are 19" 5 spoke take-offs. I am happy with the way they look, minus the color. That is why I decided to plasti-dip my spring/summer wheels before I installed them. This is what it looked like when finished! I couldn't be happier with the look of the wheels.

Not bad for $25 (4 spray cans of plasti-dip), + 1.5 hours of application time, and 8 hours of dry time! I did the job with the wheels off, even though I know that it can be done with them on. Prep time was basically zero. I just laid down some cardboard and cut a 20" circle out of vinyl to cover most of the tire. The overspray on the tire was perfect, as it just peeled right off. I hope that it lasts through the entire summer, but only time will tell.

Looking good. I recommend getting the chamois-like rag that they have for cleaning plastidip. You're going to get a bunch of brake-dust on them. Good news is that plastidip is very easy to clean and you don't have to really worry about water marks.

Thanks for the compliments! I will be sure to pick up the chamois-like rag for cleaning plasti-dip.
I like it too, but it is fresh. Hopefully, it still looks good when August rolls around. Its a great solution for someone like me who wants to see what the car will look like with something painted a different color. Next winter I plan to make it permanent and get the wheels painted.
I've always had a black mustang... Impossible to keep clean, but when they are clean nothing looks sexier. So, it shouldn't be any harder to keep clean than my car.
I came in here all ready to hate on it. But I like it.
They are a little difficult to keep clean with the brake dust and road dust.

Just make sure you're cleaning them on a very regular basis..
if I let my plastidipped wheels sit for like a month without cleaning (common during winter) the brake dust and dirt would absorb into the dip, and you'd have to spray over it to get them looking clean again..no amount of soap or shine would help.
