I feel pretty bad for a lot of you and your insurance.

My wife and I have virtually spotless records, no fast driving awards, one not at fault accident 3 years ago, full coverage on two vehicles, liability on a third, renters, roadside, etc... and we pay $1500 a year with low deductible and high coverage rates.

Don't tell the wife, cause she doesn't acknowledge it, but we might be a fair bit past that benchmark.

The easiest way to understand it is, my wife just recently informed me that I am too old for Rock Concerts and Skinny Jeans.

I had a similiar accident in May that totaled my 2008. A teacher aide turning left into the school parking lot tried to go through my car as I was traveling by going the opposite direction.

she got a ticket for failing to yield. At frst her insurance she gave said she wasn't insured so I went through my own insuance who gave me a very good settlement but cost me my $1000 deductible.

They said they would sue her for the settlement and also try to recover my deductible for me which saved me from having to take her to small claims court. Then 2 weeks later another insurance company calls me out of the blue and say they hold her policy and want to depose me by phone - which I do. Now my insurance company says they will try to recover costs from them including my deductible for me. Except - I call a couple weeks later to see what is going on and they advise the other insurance company is waiting to see the outcome of her traffic court appearance before they agree to reimburse any costs and my insurance company sounds content to just wait and see what they do.

Can't see any way she can get out of the ticket. The cop said she was trying to be creative and find a way to blame me - but he said he didn't care if I was going 100 mph (I wasn't speeding however) because she was the one who had to yield. but - strange things happen in court. I may end up having to try to take her to small claims court after all.

I wish my 2013 had been totaled. Low impact at a stop light, GF hit the car in front. $10k repair, but frame had to be repaired. I was offered $16k for a car stickered at $35k 4mths ago.
